14 Pet Industry Brands Unite to Recover Over 92,000 lbs of Plastic
In July 2025, the pet industry launched its first-ever collective action campaign to combat plastic pollution: Plastic Recovery July.
Led by the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC) in partnership with rePurpose Global, the initiative brought together 14 committed brands to fund the recovery of plastic waste in some of the world’s largest hotspots for plastic pollution.
The result was a powerful demonstration of what’s possible when an industry acts together.
Final Impact
Over the course of the month, the campaign achieved:
- 92,000+ pounds of plastic recovered from the environment
- Four critical ecosystems protected, including coral reefs, mangrove forests, and the Himalayan foothills
- More than 1,070 waste workers supported, with safe, dignified employment
- Over 800 women empowered through workforce leadership opportunities
- Three countries impacted: Kenya, India, and Indonesia
These results are verified through rePurpose Global’s Verified Plastic Recovery system, which tracks and audits plastic waste from collection to end-of-life processing.
